I have been teaching 3rd grade at Costello for 26 years…it seems like a really long time when I write it out! During those years, I have taught with 10 other teaching partners… but I am still here!
Prior to coming to Costello, I taught Special Education at Leonard in the Emotionally Impaired classroom. And prior to that, I taught at Poppleton School (with Mr. Wood) which is now an historic building at the Troy Historic Museum and Village! Before I was hired I was a long-term substitute teacher at Niles Elementary.
I attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate and received a BS in Education with a double major in General Education and Special Education for the Emotionally Impaired. I also earned a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Michigan. I have an additional 30 hours past my Masters Degree in coursework focusing mainly on Literacy and Language Arts.
I am married and live in Sterling Heights with my husband, Mark whom I met while in college at the University of Michigan. He is currently a Senior Consultant in CRM database management, design, support and training with Ticomix Inc., We have 3 daughters who also attended UM. They have all gone in different directions. Our eldest is a teacher in Troy, our middle daughter works in advertising at Carat and our youngest is an environmental & sustainability specialist at Eagle Ottawa. I love flowers of all kinds and frequent trips to Starbucks! My favorite past times are: spending time with my family, cheering for Michigan (GO BLUE!), reading, cooking and more reading.
