Hi! My name is Julie Dagenais and I teach first grade at Costello Elementary School. Teaching first grade is where my heart is! I made the decision to be a teacher when I was six years old and never changed my mind. I am in my twenty-fifth year of teaching and have enjoyed every day! I have a Bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University…with a focus in reading and writing. I also earned certification in early childhood development and speech/language. Years later, I returned to school and earned a Master’s degree in reading from Oakland University. I regularly attend professional growth in-services to utilize the best teaching practices in education today.
Not only do I work in Troy, but I live in Troy as well. My husband, Jerry, and I both attended Larson Middle School and graduated together from Athens High School…Go Red Hawks! We have three beautiful children; Blake (18), Grant (16) and Tiffani (13). Outside of the classroom you might see me walking my three dogs (yes, all at once)…Lilly, Gracie and Lucas! I am crazy about my pups! I also have a passion for decorating and love to help people pick paint colors! It is such a pleasure to work and live in Troy…what a fabulous city!
This year, the first graders are known as the FirstSuper SquadKids! Together we are small superheroes on a BIG mission as we conquer our learning goals one target at a time! How SUPER it is to be their first grade teacher!
