Costello has been my home for the last 11 years! When I first began here at Costello, I taught third grade. After two years, I moved to first grade, where I have been happily working for the past nine years. Being able to teach multiple grades has shown me where student learning begins and where it needs to go. I think this is an invaluable recourse that I was given.
Costello was my first teaching job. I was very lucky to be hired right out of college. I couldn’t imagine teaching anywhere else!
I attended Adrian College for my undergraduate degree, where I have a triple minor in English, Spanish and Elementary Education. I was fortunate enough to be able to do a summer semester in Spain at the University of Salamanca. This aided my Spanish and was a wonderful experience and adventure. I recommend Spain for any trip across the pond. For my master’s degree, I attended Oakland University. I received my degree in Reading and Language Arts. Reading is a passion of mine. I love teaching reading to students! Teaching first grade has allowed me to watch children come in reading a few words and blossom into full grown readers in both fluency and comprehension. These are some of my happiest moments.
I have lived in Troy all of my life. I guess you could say I really like where I live and work! In July, I became engaged and will be getting married next summer. When I am not at Costello, I enjoy traveling, reading, playing tennis and spending time at my favorite place…Somerset Mall!
