Fifth graders are definitely the best! I know this because I have had the privilege to work with them at Costello for the past twenty years or so. Before working for the Troy School District, I went to Royal Oak Schools and graduated from Kimball High School. Afterwards, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University. I was fortunate to student teach at Costello with Mrs. Lenihan and was hired the following school year. I consider myself a lifelong learner and love learning new things! Professionally, I have furthered my education by earning my Master’s Degree from Michigan State University along with 30 additional credits from Marygrove College.
When I’m not teaching in my classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. That’s my husband, Joel, up in that photo with me. We are parents to two Spartans. My daughter, Kim, is a junior at Michigan State University, and she is majoring in Elementary Education. My son, Scott, is a freshman at State and is studying Computer Science and Media. My family does a lot of traveling together and we are involved in many sports including: paddle boarding, water skiing, wake surfing, wakeboarding, downhill skiing, snow shoeing, mountain biking, and running. I have run in the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon for 5 consecutive years, I have also competed in several mountain bike races, and I have participated in the Warrior Dash twice. I also love to cook, garden, read, draw, and write! Some say I have an obsession for books - have a collection of over 1200 children’s picture books at my home.
