My name is Kyla Barnes. I’m a Troy native. I was born and raised here attending Troy Union Elementary School, Larson Middle School and Athens High School.
Children (particularly little children) are my passion! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I currently teach the 4-year-old, full day preschool program here at Costello. Most people think I’m crazy but spending my days with the little ones is exactly where I want to be! Seeing children explore, discover and learn things for the first time is about as rewarding and exciting as it gets in my opinion!
Outside of preschool, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends (they’re the heartthrob of my life). I love playing and watching sports. Soccer is my favorite to play while football & baseball are my favorite to watch. Photography and doing any sort of creative project are some of my favorite ways to spend my time. I love the outdoors and try to spend as much of my time as possible out there! Camping and traveling are a huge passion of mine. I have seen (what seems like) all of Michigan. I have also been on 2 international mission trips (so far). One to South Africa and one to Haiti. I can’t think of a better way to see the world!
